Energized by God’s grace, First Presbyterian Church seeks to create a welcoming space for the worship of God, to know and share the love of Jesus Christ, and—through the guidance of the Holy Spirit—to support and sustain one another in our journeys of faith. We are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in Oxford and throughout the world.
Founded in 1837, FPC is one of the oldest congregations in Oxford. Today, we are a growing and vibrant twenty-first century community of faith, committed to living out the convictions we proclaim each Sunday in our daily lives. As a warm and hospitable congregation, we strive to embody God’s remarkable grace in service to one another and to our broader community.
At FPC, we take our faith seriously enough to ask honest questions. We seek to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which to explore those questions through Scripture, the creeds and confessions of the church, and our shared experiences. As disciples of Christ, we are committed to nurturing each person’s unique faith journey, engaging the challenges and mysteries of Christian living, and extending Christ’s compassion and love to a hurting world.
Our worship speaks to the contemporary realities of faithful living while proclaiming God’s love for all people. Grounded in the grace revealed through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we deepen our faith through meaningful education, fellowship, and mission. United by this common calling, we celebrate and respect the rich diversity of backgrounds and perspectives within our congregation.
We invite you to join us.
