Children and Youth Mission Statement

Called to create room at the table for all young people, the Children’s and Youth ministry at First Presbyterian church aims to teach young people about Christ, equipping them with the tools to grow in faith, be curious at all times, find comfort in community and know that they are Beloved children of God.

Children and Youth Core Values

Love – We create confidence that God loves us and the church loves us, no matter where we are in our journey.

Belonging – Everyone belongs here.

Curiosity – We recognize that following Jesus is a lifelong journey of engaging with scripture and pursuing God in a community of faith where questions are welcomed.

Fun – We have fun together! We take Jesus seriously, and ourselves less so.

Hope – We trust in the hope that Jesus’ life, death and resurrection brings us.

Each Sunday morning, the youth ministry at First Presbyterian meets for Sunday school from 9am to 9:45am in the youth room in the downstairs of the Education building for fellowship and a discussion on the lectionary text.

Presbyterian Youth Fellowship, or PYF for short, meets every Sunday night to break bread together, have fun together and learn together. 6th through 8th grades meet from 5pm to 6:30pm and 9th through 12th grades meet from 6pm to 7:30, both in youth room in the downstairs of the Education building. All are welcome, bring a friend or 2 or 10!

During the school year, we have Before School Breakfast Clubs. We meet weekly as middle school boys, middle school girls, high school boys and high school girls for breakfast and fellowship. call, text or email Dave for more information on your age group!

In the summertime each year, our rising 9th graders through graduated seniors head to the Montreat Youth Conference in Montreat, North Carolina for a week of fun, faith and mountain climbing at the beginning of June. Our rising 6th through 8th graders head to Green Lake, Wisconsin in July for The Great Escape Midwest.

The First Presbyterian Church believes that the youth are not just the future, but also the present of the Church. We believe that the youth and the rest of the congregation are one body, living life and pursuing faith together.
